spoon recipe cards printable

I saw these adorable recipe cards on Anthropolgie's website and had to have some!

It doesn't seem like they sell them, though, so I decided to make my own.

Feel free to print these for yourself! You'll want to print page one then reload the paper and print page two on the back.

Click on the image below to print.

I had a lot of fun making these so I might make some others soon.

Now I just have to wait for my husband to buy or make me one of these to store my new cards in.

ikea's hemnes sofa with svanby beige cushions can be machine washed!

I'm here with some good news for those of you with the Hemnes Ikea sofa with the Svanby Beige cover.

Despite the wash instructions saying "dry clean only" you can wash it in your washer!

I bought this cover thinking it could be machine washed. When I realized it was "dry clean only" and called around some dry cleaner for cleaning prices (only one place said they could and a single cushion would be $8. Who knows how much for the actual sofa cover? I could buy a new, white cover for that price!) I gave up on having a clean couch until I bought a new one.

I got so sick of looking at my increasingly dirty beige couch and just bit the bullet one day and threw a cushion in the washer.

Guess what. It worked!

Unfortunately, I didn't take a before picture because it was a spur of the moment decision, but here she is after. So beige and not at all brown!

Here are some things I did that I would recommend:

-Wash on cold

-Use a gentle detergent

-Do not machine dry, as it will probably cause shrinkage.
(I haven't tested that theory.)

-I used chairs/step stools to open them

-I have a larger capacity dryer so I was able to wash three cushions at once.
I would recommend 2-3 depending on your washer size.

Now all I have left to do is remove these pills all over the cushions.

painted door numbers

As a former pizza delivery person, I'm ashamed to admit
that I didn't have house numbers on my house since we moved in.

So I decided it was time to add some.

I decided the door was a good place to put some after seeing some of these:

Pretty, right?

Instead of using metal house numbers or cutting vinyl letters on a Cricut,
which can both be limiting, I decided to paint them on.

This was my door before

I found this tutorial for painted house numbers here
I really liked the numbers she used so I dowloaded them for free then enlarged them
until they looked good on my door
(I think they were about 5 inches tall and the "No." was about half that.)

Then I cut those numbers out, traced them onto some contact paper,
and cut the numbers out on the contact paper

I stuck the stencil I had created on the door and then used a sponge
brush to paint the numbers on the door using a
Behr sample Indoor/Outdoor paint in the color "Broadway."

Using contact paper was a mistake because this is what happened

The contact paper didn't stick to the door well enough so the paint seeped underneath.

Luckily, I had some Goof Off laying around so I took a rag and, using only my index finger, wiped off the messy parts. This took quite some time and the paint didn't completely come off, which you may be able to see in the picture below. So I recommend using vinyl or something with a stronger adhesive as a stencil.

After cleaning it up as well as I could, I deemed it finished. Here's my door now. Isn't it cute?

pumpkin parsley dog treats

Meet Myles.

He's my five year old jackabee (jack russell terrier and beagle mix.)
We've had him for a little over two years and I'm super in love with him.

Once we got him home, we realized he had a sensitive tummy
and couldn't eat food or treats with corn in it, so I started
making him homemade treats. I made him
these peanut butter treats a few months ago and he's been
very happy with them

We ran out today so I thought I'd try a new recipe.
I made these pumpkin treats with parsley. Pumpkin helps sooth upset
puppy tummies and parsley helps freshen breath.

Myles likes to help in the kitchen by licking the pumpkin spatula.

 2 eggs
1/2 cup canned pumpkin
2 tablespoons dry milk
1/4 teaspoon sea salt
2 - 2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon dried parsley (optional)

Preheat oven to 350.

Beat eggs and pumpkin together until smooth. Add dry milk, salt, and dried parsley. Add brown flour, string with a spatula or your hands until well mixed. Roll 1/4-1/2 in thick on a lightly floured surface and cut with a small cookie cutter.

Place on a cookie sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes. Remove from oven and turn treats over then bake 15-20 more minutes.

Allow to cool then store in an airtight container.

I ended up doubling the recipe because I'm a busy lady and can't make
homemade dog treats too often and didn't want to waste the pumpkin.

I want to try some of these next time and here's a link to my
Pinterest board for the cute little guy.

first post! and a hot cocoa recipe

Welcome to my blog and thanks for tuning in for the first post.

I was eager to share a post so I thought I'd share my mother-in-law's hot chocolate recipe.

This is basically the only one my husband will drink (you'll soon learn that he's a picky little guy. But so cute.)

It's a very simple recipe

Hot Chocolate

Ingredients
  • 3 cups Instant Dry Milk
  • 2 cups Nesquik (chocolate flavored)
  • 1 cup plain coffee creamer
Cooking Directions
  1. Mix ingredients together in a bowl then transfer to an airtight container to store.
  2. Mix 1/3 cup cocoa mixture with hot water in a standard size mug and stir.
